Drawing with friends has been one of the best things I’ve done in 2024. It’s been so fun connecting with art friends old and new this year! Talking about art supplies, learning techniques, and just talking with kindred spirits has been so good for my creative soul! My first live zoom style drawing session was cohosted with
Martin back in April and I’ve been hooked ever since! She also really inspired me (and helped me work out the kinks) when I began livestreaming on my youtube channel (can’t thank you enough for all the help with both of those, Mel!)P.S. Melissa is hosting her 100th ART HANG PARTY this Thursday at 7 PM EST!
I’ve often felt pretty isolated as a self employed artist because I don’t have any coworkers and I haven’t found (or actively searched for) local artists and makers to meet up with. It would behoove me to maybe take a class, join some kind of local sketching group, but I also haven’t really felt the need to. That’s mostly because I’ve been regularly drawing with friends online and it’s kind of filled that void. This is not say I won’t get out there and do things with people in “real life”, but I find it hard enough to schedule meeting a single friend for lunch. No one’s ever got the free time at the same time. It’s one of the drawbacks of being a responsible adult! You really do have to do your chores, your job, take care of family and pets, the yard, and so on before you can run out and play because nobody else is gonna do it for you.
If you’re like me and are lacking in the artist playdate department, or just always wanted to try one of these zoom drawing sessions so many artists do, this is a great way to dip your toes in! We’ll have a silly fun time and all skill levels are welcome! Bring your favorite art supplies, a snack, a cup of coffee, your pets, your kids, and most of all a good sense of humor because things usually get giggly!
I can’t wait to draw some wild and crazy Christmas cards with y’all! Hope to see you there!
Wishing you a very Happy and Healthy Holidays and a Creative New Year!
xoxo
Deb ;)
